About the Author

Irene TAI is the youngest of nine children. She was born in Hong Kong on June 1950 and led a life full of intrigue, travelling with her father to several countries in Asia., learning the different languages and customs. She graduated and assumed the position of a nurse at Queen Mary Hospital, after which she travelled to London to start her training in Operating Theatres, and on Burns, Plastic, and Oral surgery. As she became successful in her career, she moved to Sydney in 1979 with her husband and became the Supervisor of Operating Theatres.

She wrote “The Chinese Entrepreneur” when she turned 65 to remind her nephews and nieces to know more about their grandfather. Her mother encouraged Irene to write this book and gave her the permission to use the family history to create the inspiration for this book. This book has been instrumental in enlightening the youth about their Chinese customs and traditions.

Irene wrote her first book “Getting to Know Australia, tips for Asian Migrants” in 2008 because she fell in love with Australia and its friendly people, and wished to encourage other Chinese migrants to consider moving to Australia. She is proud to call Australia her home.

Author Biography

Irene Tai was born in Hong Kong in 1950. She comes from a large family and is the youngest daughter among 9 children. Entrepreneurship came to her naturally since her father would often talk about business over dinner. She is now semi-retired, but still runs events which deliver educational speeches to enlighten people on numerous topic such as Plasma Technology, Spirituality, Climate Change, Sustainability etc.

Irene started writing this book after turning 65 to help her nieces and nephews know their grandfather, to whom she dedicates the book and also to her mother who gave her the permission to use their family history as inspiration for the setting of this book.

Irene Brown calls this book a historical fiction to be sure that there is no judgement on the family nor from the family.

To be able to write a novel properly, she trained under the popular Australian author Fiona McIntosh who is the protégé of Bryce Courtenay.

After graduating in Nursing from Queen Mary Hospital, Irene traveled to London to train in Operating theatres, and Burns, Plastic and Oral Surgery. She migrated to Sydney in 1979 with her husband, where her nursing career advanced from being a Clinical Nurse Specialist to Supervisor of Operating theatres.
