Irene Tai helps bring us back to our roots and helps us make our own decisions and choices. The book revolves around the main character Sek Lung and describes his will to survive and his fight to save his family from the atrocities they faced at the hands of the Japanese and also how he used his creative mind and understanding of human nature, to excel in business after the war.
